Much Ado About Joss Whedon

So this is happening:

I should be excited about this.  I love Joss Whedon and I love “Much Ado About Nothing”, but the trailer kind of makes everyone sound like Keanu Reeves in the Kenneth Branaugh version of “Much Ado” (which is awesome).  Obviously, that’s not going to stop me from seeing it.  I’ve never seen a modern interpretation of Shakespeare’s best comedy.  Fingers crossed.

Hmmmm… This could go either way. Literal Shakespeare transported to modern times could be rough, but if anyone can pull it off it’s Whedon. Cast looks good. Wonder if it will be B&W with flashes of color like the trailer?

Have you seen it yet? I went about a week ago and loved it – there were a few parts with some pretty broad acting but not as much as the Branaugh version. I thought Amy Acker in particular was amazing.

I have not. It’ll likely have to wait until Netflix. It’s good to hear such a positive review of it. Joss Whedon was on Colbert last week and he was talking about doing a whole bunch of micro-projects like this one. It was actually shot in his house! He said that he wants to do a ballet next.

Yeah, and his wife designed the house. Obviously that helped with the 12 day schedule thing, plus the fact that these actors have evidently been hanging out with him in that house for years doing weekend Shakespeare readings. Plus I just can’t help feeling enormous affection for pretty much everyone who shows up on the screen – but seriously, Amy Acker and Fran Kranz were both fabulous.
