Movie Review: Ironman 3

Ratings for reviews will appear above the fold, while the review itself will appear below the fold to avoid spoilers for anyone that wants to go into it with a blank slate.

Jean-Paul’s rating: 3/5 stars

It’s the Tony Stark Show with special guest, Ironman!

The Ironman movie series has been so successful because Tony Stark is such a lovable ass.  And Tony Stark is a lovable ass because of Robert Downey, Jr.  I wonder how much acting was actually involved in bringing Tony Stark to life.  My hunch is that Tony Stark is just a manifestation of Robert Downey, Jr.’s ego.

And holy crap, the website went down just as I was saving a draft of this review and I lost over 200 words of what I assure you was elegant prose.  A three star movie isn’t worth trying to remember what it was I wrote so I’ll just leave it here with a quick synopsis of my opinion.

“Ironman 3” is worth seeing for mindlessly fun entertainment.  It’s a step up from the second movie and a step down from the first movie.

I agree with your summery, although I’d give it a 4/5 instead since I don’t go into summer action movies expecting Shakespeare. The comedy was good if not great, the plot didn’t have any really glaring holes in it and the effects were all pretty cool.

Overall I thought this was WAY better than Iron Man 2, but not still not as good as the First one. So maybe 3.5 stars. As a dyed in the wool Comic book geek, I could see and predict some of the events. Don’t want to be too spoilery. I know Tony is a Billionaire, but the utter waste in the epilogue, bugged the heck out of me. I think it still a great step toward Iron Man 4/Avengers 2/Whatever Marvel has up its sleeve next. And Yes, I will still fork out for tickets and a bucket of Popcorn. FYI… There was no need for this movie to be in 3D. Save your money.
